Short-Term Medical Assistance
AccessKC: Immediate Medical Help for Those Who Qualify
Every day, Kansas Citians face difficult choices between housing, food, and health care. AccessKC, a program of AcruxKC, bridges the gap—offering short-term assistance for urgent medical needs when people need it most.
What Is AccessKC?
Launched in 2005, AccessKC provides immediate, short-term medical assistance for individuals and families in crisis. Through a regional network of nonprofits and healthcare providers, the program funds medical vouchers that connect people to care quickly and equitably.
AccessKC is not direct care. All services are accessed through:
Referrals from a partner agency, or
An online application for specific services (vision and hearing)
Anyone who qualifies for the program may be eligible—not just the uninsured.
What We Help With
AccessKC provides financial assistance for essential health needs that can’t wait. Support is available for:
🩼 Durable Medical Goods – Canes, walkers, braces, and equipment
🦷 Emergency Dental Care – Fillings and extractions
👓 Eye Exams & Glasses – Vouchers for exams and prescriptions
🔊 Hearing Aids – Devices and evaluations
💊 Prescriptions – Non-controlled medications
Note: Some services—like vision and hearing—can be requested online. All others require referral through a participating partner agency.
