Legacy Grants for Behavioral Health (LGBH)
Expanding Access to Mental and Behavioral Health Services Across Kansas City
The Legacy Grants for Behavioral Health (LGBH) were launched in 2023 to address the growing need for accessible, community-based behavioral health services. These grants support nonprofit organizations that are improving mental health outcomes through direct service, innovation, and partnership.
Unlike school-specific programs, LGBH grants are designed for clinics, community health centers, and nonprofits serving populations across the lifespan, including children, adults, and families.
What We Support
Behavioral health programs integrated into primary care or community health
Trauma-informed therapy and response services
Outreach and education aimed at reducing stigma
Culturally competent and language-accessible mental health care
Programs that improve access for uninsured or underinsured populations
Recent LGBH Recipients
Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center
With support from LGBH, Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center is expanding community-based mental health care through two major initiatives:
🚐 The launch of a mobile mental health van that delivers behavioral health services directly to schools, neighborhoods, and underserved areas.

Health Partnership Clinic
Health Partnership Clinic used LGBH funding to strengthen mental health screening and care coordination for patients in Johnson County. Their initiative connects individuals—many of whom are uninsured or underinsured—with the right behavioral health resources at the right time.
By integrating mental health screening into primary care visits, HPC is helping identify behavioral health needs earlier and creating clear pathways to care.
